Innovative financial education

About

The beginning

OnTarget Education began as an outreach project created by a group of University of Toronto students in 2007. As members of Commerce ACE (Advancing Canadian Entrepreneurship) team at University of Toronto, this group of students developed a program called Women in Progress.

The program collaborated with shelters in Toronto to assist abused women by teaching them to manage their finances and monitoring their progress on an ongoing basis. This program was a awarded the HSBC Financial Literacy Regional award, for best program in Ontario and Quebec and the National Runner-Up Award as the second-best financial literacy program in Canada among 32 programs.

OnTarget Education

Inspired by the concept and impact of the Women in Progress program, a several of UofT’s SIFE team members that had created and implemented the program decided to expand the project to various communities and target groups. In order to do this, they created the OnTarget Financial Literacy Corporation, which is committed to providing high quality financial literacy education through innovative and interactive programs that are tailored to the needs of our target audience.
